DHI Hair Transplant in Albania
Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) is one of the newest hair transplantation techniques performed by using a special DHI Pen, also called DHI Implanter, or CHOI Pen. DHI uses the CHOI Pen to control the angle, depth, and direction of each implanted follicle. In the DHI technique, there is no need for canal opening because the extracted grafts are directly implanted into the recipient area by using the CHOI pen.
Through direct “DHI” hair implantation, the hair roots are positioned with maximum density, allowing for a natural result.
in DHI Technique
CHOI Pen, also known as Choi Implanter Pen or DHI Pen or DHI Implanter, is a pen-like tool with a 0.5-1.5mm hollow needle on its end.
The CHOI Pen is used to implant extracted hair follicles into the recipient areas without the requirement of canal opening.
The CHOI Pen enables precise control of the implementation of each hair follicle. Therefore, it offers precise results.
Thanks to the CHOI Pen, the extracted grafts do not wait in a solution, they are loaded in the pen as soon as they are extracted and then are implanted into the recipient areas. This increases the survival rate of hair follicles and the success of the hair transplant.
How Is DHI Hair Transplant Performed?
DHI Hair Transplant is performed under local anaesthesia. DHI Hair Transplant takes from 6 to 8 hours. And it involves these main steps:
1. Consultation
The individual patient characteristics are determined by the hair trichologist during the consultation by considering the cause of hair loss, type of hair loss, the likelihood of hair loss progression over future years, hair type (thick or thin), the patient’s expectation, age, gender, and medical history.
During the consultation, the hairline is drawn based on the natural hairline and patient wishes, and the recipient parts are determined with how many grafts are needed at each area and how many grafts can be collected from the donor site. You may or may not be eligible for the DHI Technique depending on the extent of your hair loss.
If you wonder whether you are suitable or not, you can now have your hair transplant consultation online.
2. Preparation
Pre-op tests will be performed and your hair in your donor area will be trimmed, shaving may not be required in DHI. After that, your scalp will be sterilised.
3. Local Anaesthesia
Some patients think that hair transplant is a painless procedure but not the local anesthesia. For the one who can’t stand the pain or are afraid of needles, Dr Can Hair Clinic’s Hair Transplant Team offers needle-free anesthesia.
4. Extraction
Hair follicles smaller than 1 diameter are extracted from the donor areas by using a specific device called “micromotor”.
5. Loading Hair Follicle into the CHOI Pen
The hair follicles are placed one by one in the CHOI Pen. The hair follicles are placed inside the needle tips without touching by using forceps inside the hollow needle.
6. Implantation or Graft Insertion
In DHI, hair follicles are directly implanted into the recipient area by using a pen called Choi Implanter with a diameter of 1 mm or less without prior creation of holes or slits. So, there is no need for an additional “canal opening” step; implantation and canal opening happen at the same time thanks to the needle in the CHOI Pen.
Advantages of DHI Hair Transplant
- The Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) technique provides the most natural look and the most hair density.
- The scar potential is minimum in DHI and there is no bleeding in the implantation phase because the DHI Technique does not involve canal opening.
- The risk of crusting and postulation is also very low.
- Since the recovery is very fast in the DHI technique, patients can go back to their daily routines very fast.
Who Is A Good Candidate For DHI Hair Transplant
The most appropriate candidates for Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) are the patients who:
- Need front hairline transplantation,
- Need eye-brow transplantation,
- Need beard and mustache transplantation,
- Do not prefer to be shaved for the operation,
- Want to have thicker and higher density in their receding and balding areas (only if the donor area is suitable and the recipient area is not large)
